
White Helmets Response in Latakia and Tartus — Wednesday, March 12
For the seventh consecutive day, White Helmets teams continue their humanitarian mission, responding to distress calls, extinguishing fires, providing medical aid, recovering victims' bodies, and delivering life-saving services in Latakia and Tartus. These efforts are carried out in line with humanitarian principles while prioritizing the safety of response teams.
This report covers the response efforts on Wednesday, March 12, and includes only the operations conducted by White Helmets teams.
Recovery of Victims’ Bodies
On March 12, specialized teams recovered one body from Baniyas in Tartus province. The recovery followed reports of its location, and the body was documented before being transported to hospitals and handed over to forensic authorities.
Civilian Evacuation
White Helmets teams evacuated two families in Tartus province, responding to their requests and ensuring their safe transport to destinations of their choice.
Fire Response
Firefighting teams responded to 11 fires across Latakia and Tartus, including:
- 7 wildfires in different locations.
- A residential fire.
- A fire in an electrical transformer.
- A warehouse fire.
- A grass and reed fire.
Medical Assistance
Emergency response teams handled 35 medical cases, including:
- Follow-up on injured individuals.
- Hospital transfers.
- Routine medical emergencies.
Water Supply to Critical Facilities
Amid ongoing water shortages, The White Helmets provided emergency clean water supplies to essential facilities, including:
- 8 service facilities.
- 1 medical facility.
Additional Operations
Teams also worked on:
- Clearing blocked roads.
- Removing burned or abandoned vehicles to ensure safe civilian movement.
- Restoring concrete barriers to their proper placement in accordance with traffic regulations.
Commitment to Humanitarian Work
Despite ongoing risks, White Helmets teams remain committed to their humanitarian duty. Since Sunday, March 9, the organization has reinforced its response in Latakia and Tartus by deploying additional emergency, firefighting, and medical teams to support civilians during this crisis.

We call for accountability for those responsible for 14 years of crimes against Syrians, including killings, torture, displacement, and starvation, as well as the recent atrocities committed in Latakia and Tartus.
